Dr.ir. Jeroen Pruyn, Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology (DUT)

Dr.ir. Jeroen Pruyn is an assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology (DUT). Since the start of his academic career, he is functioning on the crossroads of engineering/technology with macroeconomics and business decisions and is combining this with a keen interest in serious gaming.

A red line throughout his years at Delft University has been the creation of the Maritime Business Game, a serious game and economic model, intended for both education and research. Currently, the third version of the Maritime Business Game, with a strong focus on shipping, is being taught and appreciated at 4 different universities and is part of 5 different masters. This includes MEL at the Erasmus University.

His love for this game and his commitment to improving the environment in which it operates, led to the creation of his PhD research project in 2007 under Prof. Van Der Voorde and Prof. Meersman from the University of Antwerp and Prof. Nienhuis from Delft University of Technology. The resulting model, named C3ME, now forms the background for the current Maritime Business Game and is behind a number of his more recent publications. Now, he is continuously expanding and improving the game-model and the economic model behind it. All in an effort to better understand, model and predict the potential for the (Dutch) Maritime Sectors (shipping, shipyard, repair and demolition) and their potential.
