Next to the academic programs and executive education, research is one of MEL’s core activities.
Many of MEL-related researchers have published articles in high-ranking academic journals. Furthermore, MEL staff frequently presents papers at conferences, which has not only pure academic value but also connects MEL to the small but ever growing maritime research community. Since 1999, MEL edits the quarterly journal Maritime Economics & Logistics, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
Another pillar of MEL’s research branch is its contract research. Together with institutes such as ECORYS or the SmartPort community MEL takes advisory positions for businesses or institutional bodies. Additionally, research conducted by our students and PhD candidates contributes to the further development of the academic field. MEL theses are often not only of academic nature but also provide solutions to real business problems. In combination with an internship this builds a strong case for our students and our partners alike.
As a support to any maritime-related research, and especially to our students’ efforts, MEL has compiled this Maritime Library, which delivers an overview of various kinds of information resources. The links below guide you towards the various sections of the Library.
